I would come back simply for the Estrella Galicia if I’m honest! Definitely worth a visit, and a cheeky pub lunch treat. Great beer garden as mentioned and from my brief glance around the inside looked lovely as well. The staff were all nice and friendly and the food came out promptly. I’ve got a suspicious feeling that they probably do really good Sunday Roasts. On the whole, I can definitely see myself coming back to The Blue Boar. Dad had the prawn cocktail, avocado and smoked salmon salad and said it was very nice! I’m a big fan of the salty little fish but nice to see the option given to not have them mixed in. Personally, I liked the little touch of the anchovies on the side. I personally went for the Chicken Caesar salad which, while perhaps a little pricey, was nice and tasty and presented really well. The menu at The Blue Boar was looking nice and seasonal, with a variety of pub classics and selection of nice summery salads and dishes. Thankfully, Dad offered to drive back so I was able to have both pints! Left: Chicken Caesar Right: Prawn & Smoked Salmon I’ve never seen it on draft in the UK and it is my Auntie’s and my favourite drink when I visit Spain so I’ve got a massive soft spot for it. Not to be confused with the more known Estrella Damm, Estrella Galicia is a lager from ‘Hijos de Rivera’ brewery and in my opinion the much better beer. They did have one treat on the taps though ‘Estrella Galicia’. It had been well conditioned and was a nice, malty easy drinking pale ale. Brunch and Bottomless Bubbles at The Blue Boar pub, restaurant and hotel in Witney. I did have one of the ales however, ‘Yardbird Pale’. Continue the feasting into Boxing Day with brunch at the Blue Boar. The taps are mostly common macro lagers and there were only two hand-pulls, both with Greene King beers on. The Blue Boar hasn’t got a particularly wide range of craft beer or real ales on offer. Ideal for a couple summertime pints Left: Estrella Galicia. Plenty of seating, nice comfy chairs and well decorated little space. Looks like it may have had a makeover at some point in the last ten years as the old man said it didn’t used to look like this the last time he was there! However, with the sun shining we spent most of the time in their cracking little beer garden adjacent to the car park. Visually the pub is lovely and clean inside with what appears to be some nice function spaces to hire out. Made my return to front bay parking nice and easy! It’s a proper gastropub style venue with some boutique hotel rooms too and plenty of car park space as well. On recommendation from my Dad, who’d been to this pub a few times before, we went to The Blue Boar in Abridge. So I thought I’d combine the two, get behind the wheel and take my Dad and Brother out to Romford for a naughty little pub lunch.
